From 1995-1997, Donna was the National Fitness Director of MET-Rx Substrates, Inc. where she: Developed programs for the modeling community, designed women's exercise protocols for METRx's "The Balance Program," lectured nationally on nutrition and exercise, and presented at national aerobic and fitness conferences. From 1988 to 1995 Donna was the owner and president of The Fitness Team, Inc., and The US Total Fitness Team, Inc. These companies were contracted to develop, market, and pilot the fitness/weight management divisions of health clubs and corporations. Donna designed protocols, trained individuals, and developed special-needs programs for: Traumatic Brain Injury victims, the obese, children, the elderly, and the physically challenged. During this time Donna also created "I'm Losin' It," a nutrition program, and served as Fitness Director of US Total Fitness Health Clubs, where she: Supervised the training in all clubs, hired and trained the training staff, developed and supervised the nutrition system in the clubs, developed corporate programs, and designed programs for competitive and professional athletes.
Donna's fourteen years of experience as a professional actor and director enabled her to create, produce, and perform in her own fitness segments (called The Action ‘5’ Fitness Team--which regularly aired on the NBC affiliate, WPTV in South Florida) and serve as the channel 5 health/fitness expert from 1991 to 1992. She has also written, produced and starred in a television pilot targeting “family fitness” and shot on South Beach called The Fitness Team.
Our company, Live It Or Diet, grew out of a need to solve the problem of providing responsible educated recommendations to an individual. Donna Michaels-Surface has been offering diet recommendations for most of her 20-year career in fitness, recognizing that diet is a component that must be addressed for any exercise program to be successful. However, she grew increasingly frustrated as she watched some people respond wonderfully to sound, positive adjustments to their eating habits, while others just did not. What was sabotaging them.
